Click this to download Rule Britannia
Once again, I find myself lost in peerage. This is the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and, although I am not her subject, I rather fancy the Queen and the British Monarchy. Oh come now, you aren’t a fan of Downton Abby?
Who amongst us does not relish the Last Night of Proms? My Fair Lady did nothing if not giving us a passion for the Epsom Derby and black and white formal clothing. We loved Rex Harrison, even though he treated Liza shabbily, whilst falling in love with her.
Gilbert and Sullivan, brollies, double decker red buses, red telephone booths, Richard Quest; what’s not to love? OK, Richard Quest is a blowhard prig, a self aggrandizing pompous ass, and should be exiled for life in a French monastery.
And Americans are daft for Mary Poppins! I myself grew up wanting to be a chimmineeee sweep. I prefer Fergie as a Princess. Perhaps, Dear Queen, you liked her better as a Jenny Craig model. Plenty of room there for pleasant disagreement.
So let’s get into this Diamond Jubilee thing and all buy a commemorative plate or two; or at least listen to the HarryShots Song of the Day, which brings us to that decision. It’s nearly teatime and Your Majesty, in your honor, may we present your Royal Marine Band doing one your favorite little numbers (and ours), “Rule Britannia.”
Happy Jubilee, LillyBet. Well done, indeed Ma’am. Hands across the Atlantic. HL

Blame Them All
Since Congress, with exceptions, seems mired in stalemate, there is only one thing to do. Do not re-elect anyone. Bring in new people. Elect them instead. If they fail to act responsibly, don’t re-elect them either. No incumbencies. No incumbents. Congress appears unwilling to change, and so it must be us that does the changing. After two election cycles (four years), with incumbents being beaten throughout the country, I think we can presume that survival instincts might bring about bipartisan action from Congress.
A few statesmen and women will be sacrificed. We can only create change if we have patience and are willing to do this when it is required. Now is that time.
Bipartisanship is required for the good of the nation. Blame the Dems, Blame the Republicans. I have my opinion, you have yours. Let’s start this year. – Harry_________________________________________________
