“Jubilation T. Cornpone” from the Broadway musical L’il Abner
Published September 6, 2012

Jubilation T. Cornpone is one of my favorite Broadway show tunes. From the musical L’il Abner and the compilation album There’s No Business Like Show Business Broadway Showstoppers this is a really delightful treat. The writing and rhyming is superb and is Stubby Kaye singing the lead. I wish I could have been in the room when the incomparable Johnny Mercer was writing this. I imagine Johnny writing and laughing as he came up with lines and rhymes.
Any ol how, here is “Jubilation T. Cornpone”. I am a Southerner and I approve this song. HL
